GLEANINGS FROM A SACRED FIELD - A collection of writings from Benjamin Franklin compiled by Kyle Frank From The Introduction: Our blessed Savior once said “Therefore, by their fruits ye will know them.” Benjamin Franklin (1812-1878) is widely known by the fruits that he bore. He was known widely as an editor, and more importantly, an evangelist. Brother Franklin traveled far and wide in the Master's Vineyard from the 1840's to his death in 1878. He was even known to skirt Civil War battlefields so that he could continue to preach to both sides in the conflict. The sounds of cannon fire were often the back-drop for his evangelistic meetings.. Benjamin Franklin, the author, was widely known as a bulwark of conservatives in an ever-more-liberal world. His papers “The Western Reformer, and later more prominent “American Christian Review” held the standard of New Testament Christianity high. He is remembered as the most important second generation leader of the Restoration Movement. This new work, Gleanings From a Sacred Field comes from a deep respect for Mr. Franklin's abilities as an author and editor. It also expresses a desire to share this material with others. The material in this book was “gleaned” from several sources; his papers, tracts and transcripts which have been tucked away in various locations such as archives historical societies.
